Taiwan-based computer and electronics company Asus has followed the lead of US rival HP by unveiling a limited edition laptop with a lid cover made from leather.

It has released the ZenBook Edition 30 to mark 30 years since the company was founded. The limited edition product features a lid cover made from white leather from Italy. It has used 18-karat rose gold for the logo.

Jonney Shih, chairman of Asus, said of this product: “Every piece of genuine leather is hand selected. Each panel cover is meticulously sewed by a master tailor“.

In addition to the laptop itself, Asus has created a range of premium accessories, including a Pearl White mouse and a leather sleeve.

In October 2018, HP unveiled the Spectre Folio, saying at the time that it had “reinvented the PC” with its latest laptop model. The exterior of that product is made from chrome-tanned, full-grain leather.
