Industry body the Pakistan Tanners’ Association (PTA) has once again prepared a series of proposals for the country’s government to include in its new budget plans. The government is likely to complete its proposed budget for 2019-2020 in June; the financial year runs from July-June in Pakistan.

Suggestions from the PTA include subsidies to make it easier for leather manufacturers to import machinery and the withdrawal of duties on imported leather chemicals.

In addition, the organisation has asked the government to remove quarantine requirements for imported raw hides and skins.
