Burberry ‘energised’ by latest full-year results
Luxury group Burberry achieved revenue of just £2.7 billion for the full year ending March 30, 2019. This figure is flat with the revenue total for the previous year. It reported operating profit of £438 million this time, an increase of 7% year on year.

With regard to its leathergoods range, Burberry said that customers responded positively to new bags. However, the overall category performance was affected by what it called “softness in older lines”.

Chief executive, Marco Gobbetti, commented: “We made excellent progress in the first year of our plan to transform Burberry, while at the same time delivering financial performance in line with expectations. Riccardo Tisci’s first collections arrived in stores at the end of February and the initial reaction from customers is very encouraging. The implementation of our plan is on track, we are energised by the early results.”
