VDA blames Brexit as German car production declines
09/05/2019
Figures for the first four months of 2019 show that German auto makers produced 1.7 million vehicles, a fall of 12% compared to the same period last year.
Original equipment manufacturers shipped 1.3 million vehicles to export customers around the world between January and April 2019. This represents a decline of 14% year on year.
VDA said domestic orders have held up comparatively well, with a particularly strong month of April, when German customers ordered 12% more vehicles than they did in the same month in 2018. Orders from domestic customers in the first four months of the year are up by 8%.
