03/05/2019
Tanning industry association CICB set the certification programme up in 2012 and published standards for it in 2014. Detailed criteria cover four “dimensions of sustainability” that the programme has identified: sustainability management, as well as economic, environmental and social aspects.
In the course of 2018, three Brazilian leather manufacturers completed the programme and received CSCB certification. Fuga Couros achieved a silver award in January 2018 and, two months later, Curtume Courovale achieved a gold award. Then, in October, Mats Beneficiamento de Couros also achieved a gold award. In December, Fuga Couros upgraded its award to gold.
In Dresden, CSCB co-ordinator, Álvaro Flores, will share more information on the results the programme has already generated. He said in advance that he was looking forward to presenting the details to a technical and scientific audience.
