Export fall hurts German car makers in Q1
09/04/2019
Vehicle manufacturers’ association VDA said demand in the domestic market was steady, with more than 600,000 new vehicles sold domestically by German companies in the first quarter of 2018. This figure does not include the almost 275,000 passenger vehicles sold in Germany over the first three months of this year but made by non-German original equipment manufacturers. VDA said German car companies had enjoyed good sales in January and February, but had seen a downturn in March.
However, exports dipped in the first quarter to 975,000 German-made vehicles and this was the main reason for the 10% decline.
