Colombia: leather exports down in value by nearly 30%

Tanners in Colombia exported leather worth $73.9 million in 2018, a decline of 29.2% compared to the previous year.

Shipments to Italy provided 19% of the total value, followed by China with 15% and Mexico with 12%.

Exports of finished leathergoods brought in $57.1 million, which is 15% more than the figure for 2017, but still substantially down on the amount for 2016.

Almost 65% of this value came from shipments of finished leathergoods to the US.
