French leathergoods group to recruit hundreds of new workers
French leathergoods group SIS has launched a recruitment campaign. Spurred by annual growth of 8% in recent years and by a full order book, the company, which makes leather watch-straps and handbags, has said it wants to recruit and train between 120 and 150 new employees each year for the next three years.

SIS’s current workforce is around 1,400 people, spread across five manufacturing sites. Three of those production facilities are in France, while the others are in Madagascar and China.

It has run its own leather training academy in Avoudrey, a village in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of eastern France, about 30 kilometres from the border with Switzerland, since 2011. New recruits can learn leathergoods skills and about SIS values here and gain formal, transferrable qualifications under France’s national CAP (Professional Skills Certificate) programme.
