Reports in China say authorities have arrested more than 30 members of a group that had made and sold up to $15 million worth of counterfeit luxury goods from leading brands like Louis Vuitton and Loewe.

According to state media agency Xinhua, authorities launched an investigation into this group in 2019 following a tip-off that counterfeit luxury handbags were being sold via China mobile messaging app WeChat.

This investigation has led to the closure of two assembly lines in Shanghai and to the seizure of more than 4,000 bags, clothes and accessories. There were also arrests in the provinces of Guangdong and Jiangsu, the reports said.
