A series of scandals in the Brazilian meat industry did not stop growth in Mato Grosso do Sul, the state with second-highest volumes in the country (after neighbouring Mato Grosso), in 2018.

Full-year figures show that Mato Grosso do Sul increased cattle slaughter by 3% in 2018, reaching 3.2 million head.

Exports of beef from the state brought in revenues of $546 million last year, an increase in value of 6.6%.
