Falls for Brazilian leather exports in 2018
Brazil’s leather industry brought in export revenues of more than $1.4 billion in 2018 and shipped 181.7 million square-metres of leather to customers overseas in the course of the year.

These figures represent a fall of 24% in value and of 10.2% in volume compared to the corresponding figures for 2017.

Finished leather accounted for 62.7% of total value and 49.5% of volume. The figures for crust were 11% of value and 10% of volume, while for wet blue they were 21.1% of value and 40.6% of volume.

Compared to 2017, finished leather exports dropped by 24.1% in value and 9.7% in volume. The declines were 10.5% and 12.7% and 32.4% and 8.9% for crust and wet blue respectively.
