Leather makes a splash at Paris Men’s Fashion Week

21/01/2019
Leather featured prominently at Paris Men’s Fashion Week in January, at which designers showed their collections for autumn-winter 2019-2020.

Many collections featured leather jackets, but those of Berluti and Hermès attracted particular attention.

As well as jackets, Hermès included leather trousers in colours such as bright yellow and silver-grey. It also had leather jackets and a coat in a colour it called metallic H red. The leather components of the collection contrasted starkly with the sober tones of much of the rest of the collection.

At Berluti, this was the first runway collection prepared by new artistic director, Kris Van Assche. Leather’s importance in the collection was obvious from the start; it opened with a suit in brown leather with the shine of a deep patina, a homage to Berluti’s heritage as a footwear brand.
