Fuga Couros upgrades its CSCB certification
20/12/2018
Tanning industry association CICB set the certification programme up in 2012 and published standards for it in 2014. Detailed criteria cover four “dimensions of sustainability” that the programme has identified: sustainability management, as well as economic, environmental and social aspects.
There are four levels of certification that tanners can achieve, depending on how many of the criteria they fulfil. Provided they meet at least 50% of the indicators, they can earn a bronze certification. Silver is for those meeting 75%, gold 90% and diamond 100% of the criteria. Audits are carried out by a third party, internationally accredited testing body Inmetro.
CICB named Fuga Couros in January 2018 as the first accredited tannery. Following what CICB has called “a maintenance audit”, it has now upgraded Fuga’s certification to gold.
