Strong economic growth in Rwanda

The National Statistics Institute of Rwanda has said the economy there grew by 7.7% in the third quarter of 2018.

Services and agriculture are bigger contributors to the Rwandan economy overall, but industry, with growth of 12%, developed faster than either during the three-month period; services grew by 7% and agriculture by 5%.

Within manufacturing, leather and textile production in Rwanda grew by 17% during the quarter.

At the time of the release of the figures, minister for economic planning, Uzziel Ndagijimana, said Rwanda’s economy is likely to grow by a further 8% in 2019.
