Aid organisation the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has announced a new support programme for glove manufacturers in Pakistan. The money will go towards modernising glove manufacturing facilities in Sialkot.

A senior representative of JICA in Pakistan, Yoshihisa Onoe, made the announcement during a meeting with the Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PGMEA) at the start of December. He said JICA had already conducted a detailed study about the glove industry’s potential.

In the last full financial year, July 2017-June 2018, Pakistan’s glove manufacturers earned export revenues of $112 million, a 3.5% increase on the previous year.
