Leather chemicals manufacturer ATC hosted the ninth edition of a gathering of the French leather industry called ‘Rencontres du Cuir’ at its headquarters in Montanay in mid-November.

Welcoming delegates, mostly representing small and medium-sized companies, to Montanay, ATC’s founder and vice-president, Jean-Pierre Gualino, spoke about the requirements for success in export markets. He said companies have to have a strong desire to grow through investment and innovation, always with the aim of creating value for customers as their number-one objective.

Also at the event, and on the same subject, the president of the Conseil National du Cuir, Frank Boehly, said he had a series of suggestions as to how French companies in leather value chain can create an export-focused culture. These ranged from altering the French tax regime to allow companies there to become as competitive as their rivals in Italy, Germany and Spain, to easing payment systems for export customers.
