Louis Vuitton takes exhibition to Shanghai
Luxury leathergoods brand Louis Vuitton has taken an exhibition of its products to Shanghai, where it will remain until February 1.

Under the title ‘Volez, Voguez, Voyagez’, the exhibition showcases historical Louis Vuitton articles, alongside pieces from the brand’s current collections. It opened in Paris in December 2015.

For the Shanghai leg of the event, the company wanted to add pieces with a particular connection to China and these include a leather covered trunk that French banker, philanthropist and photographer Albert Kahn used to transport his equipment as he traveled through China in the early twentieth century to document daily life there. Another highlight is the more recent cocktail & cigar trunk crafted for the Chinese artist Ding Yi.

Louis Vuitton has said that travel, including automobiles, cruises, trains and aviation, “has always defined the maison”. Added to that, curator, Olivier Saillard, has sought to bring into ‘Volez, Voguez, Voyagez’ more subtle themes such as writing, fragrance, and feminine and masculine elegance.
