IFAD to hold Burkina Faso agricultural project review

13/11/2018
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the government of Burkina Faso will hold a one-day workshop to present the results of an independent evaluation of IFAD's country strategy and programme in Burkina Faso. The event will take place in Ouagadougou on November 23.

It will showcase the main conclusions and recommendations of the evaluation, which analyses 10 years of work and covers eight rural development projects. Discussions will focus on effective targeting of the poor as well as addressing their needs in what IFAD has called “agricultural value chain interventions”. Access to resources, including credit, will also be part of the discussion on the day, as will environmental challenges.

Representatives of the government, IFAD senior management and staff, civil society organisations, and international development agencies will discuss the key issues and strategic priorities to develop a future country strategy that aims to enhance IFAD’s strategic role in Burkina Faso in support of agricultural development and smallholders.
