Sell-out crowd at CICB Sustainability Forum
Brazilian tanning industry association CICB has said its 2018 Sustainability Forum, which took place in Estância Velha on November 8 was a sell-out.

Design and innovation consultant Rafael Andrade, who has been working on sustainability projects for CICB for some time, opened the event and said that, although consumers are “saturated with information”, it is essential to find an effective way to speak to new generations.

A later session featured three young industry professionals who shared their experiences. One of them, Pedro Enger of furniture group Brava Forma, said: “Leather helped us in our development as a company. We source certified leather and there is growth among consumers choosing it because it’s a material that endows our products with nobility and durability.”

Italian industry body Unic sent its environmental project manager, Primiano De Rosa, to the event to speak about European body COTANCE’s experience of applying for and securing leather’s inclusion in a very small list of materials with the right to present itself as a ‘green’ product in the European Union.
