The British Footwear Association (BFA) has announced that its chief executive, John Saunders, will stand down at the end of February. It has already begun the process of recruiting a successor.

Mr Saunders joined the BFA in April 2013 as sales and marketing director and was promoted to the post of chief executive 18 months later.

On making the announcement, the BFA commended him for raising the profile of the UK footwear industry and building up ties with government. It also highlighted his work to support skills training, which led to the recent introduction of a new, national-level footwear manufacturing apprenticeship.
