UNIDO unveils new training tool at China leather conference

23/10/2018
The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) used the recent Asian International Conference of Leather Science and Technology (AICSLT) conference to introduce its “safe leather” approach.

The conference took place from October 16-19 in Xi’an, China. The main organiser was the Shaanxi University of Science and Technology and it was hosted by the China Leather Industry Association.

During the opening ceremony, UNIDO project manager Ivan Kral announced the release of the organisation’s “First aid at the workplace” training tool. It comprises eight online modules and follows the approach of previous courses prepared by UNIDO for the leather sector. It includes the module related to hydrogen sulphide gas, which was released in August 2017.

“Safe must mean safe for operators and workers, as well as safe for consumers and communities,” Mr Kral said in his keynote speech. “All UNIDO tools and methodologies seek to build the productive capacities of our Member States, and therefore contribute to their inclusive and sustainable industrial development, or ISID.”

More information about the new training cool can be found on the UNIDO website.
