Assocal takes 130 Italian shoe brands to “essential” Moscow show

Italy’s main national footwear industry body Assocalzaturifici took 130 brands to Moscow for the Obuv’ Mir Koži exhibition (October 22-25).

Italy exported more than 6 million pairs of shoes to Russia in 2017, brining in export revenues of €379 million. However, shipments in the first six months of this year brought in revenues of €161 million, which represents a decline of 8% year on year.

Assocalzaturifici president, Annarita Pilotti said Obuv’ Mir Koži is “an essential appointment for our member companies”. She said Italian shoes are still popular in Russia, in spite of “uncertain political dialogue” between Russia and the European Union and “currency tension”.
