Lower finished leather exports continue to affect Pakistan’s figures

24/09/2018
Pakistan’s tanners and finished leather product manufacturers achieved export revenues of just under $150 million in the first two months of the current financial year, July and August 2018. This constitutes a decline compared to the same months last year of 7.6%, however the industry had a much better month in August 2018 than in July.

A dip in export revenues for finished leather was the most obvious reason for the decline, falling by 21.4% year on year. Finished leather products achieved export revenues for the two months that were down by 3.8% but exports of leather shoes increased in value by 11% over the same period.
