Outsource manufacturers urged to give more back to Paraguay

Outsource manufacturers in Paraguay brought in export revenues of almost $500 million in the first eight months of this year, according to government figures.

Overseas-owned outsource producers of products including leather run more than 170 manufacturing facilities in Paraguay and have created around 17,000 jobs.

Nevertheless, industry minister, Liz Cramer, said recently that she would like the firms, whose owners are mostly from Brazil or Argentina, although US, Korean and German companies are involved too, to give more to Paraguay, for example by using local raw materials in their production instead of importing them.
