Around 45% of Brazil’s beef exports now go to China

Brazil’s packer firms exported a total of 159,000 tonnes of beef in the month of July, a record. This figure represents an increase of almost 25% year on year. News of the sector’s strong performance in July comes after four consecutive months of year-on-year declines.

In terms of value, shipments of beef in July 2018 brought in export revenues $840 million, growth of 58% year on year.

In the first seven months of 2018, Brazil exported 841,000 tonnes of beef, bringing in revenues of $3.5 billion, an increase of 7% in volume and of 11% in value.

A total of 44% of Brazil’s beef exports so far this year have gone to China, and 45.7% of the value came from China too.
