Hotel hoax targets Simac and Tanning Tech exhibitors

Even though the event takes place in February, past exhibitors began receiving phone calls in early August urging them to take advantage of purported discounts of up to 30% on hotel rooms for Milan for the dates of the show (February 20-22). The calls have come from Asia and the callers have been reported to have adopted an aggressive approach in trying to persuade exhibitors to reveal credit card details and book through them.
President of organiser Assomac, Gabriella Marchioni Bocca, has confirmed to leatherbiz that her association has given authorisation to no agent or third party to sell hotel accommodation for Tanning Tech and Simac. She said Assomac will send a formal email to past exhibitors to discourage them from falling for the hoax message.
