Saddleback Leather makes move into physical retail
10/08/2018
Located in a warehouse, the showroom was built by the company itself and features walls made from shipping pallets and custom display tables made from railroad ties. Saddleback has described its appearance as “a perfect expression” of its founder Dave Munson’s “DIY approach to business”.
Mr Munson said: “We looked around Fort Worth for the perfect spot to open a showroom, and nothing felt quite right. So finally, I thought, hey, let’s just do it ourselves right here in the warehouse. Maybe later on we’ll set up shop in a proper retail district, but right now we’re treating this on-site showroom as a laboratory to work out the kinks and really figure out what we want out of a physical retail space.”
It marks the company’s first foray into physical retail since it was launched as an online-only retailer in 2003.
The showroom will display all the designs from Saddleback, Mountainback and sister company Love 41. It has been designed as a space where customers can touch and smell the leather products. It will be staffed by customer service reps who will be available to help shoppers place orders for on-site pickup.
