Tyson revenues up

06/08/2018
Packer and wet blue producer Tyson has announced revenues for the first nine months of its current business year of just over $30 billion, an increase of 6.9%. Net income on this figure was just short of $2.5 billion, an increase of 80% compared to the first nine months of the company’s previous financial year.

Beef contributed more than $11.5 billion to Tyson’s total revenues over the nine months. This means beef contributed 38.5% of total revenues. Compared to the same months a year ago, Tyson’s revenues from beef increased by 3%.

Sales volume in its beef segment increased, the company said, owing to improved availability of cattle supply, stronger demand for beef products and increased exports. However, it pointed out that the average sales price decreased in the third quarter because of increased availability of live cattle supply and lower livestock costs.
