Forbes names leathergoods entrepreneur on billionaires’ list

He began his business, Simone (his wife’s name), in the 1980s. He worked at first for a local leathergoods manufacturer called Chungsan, rising to become its head of sales and has said that his main motivation in entering the leathergoods industry was to travel overseas.
In 1987 he launched Simone and, thanks to the high-quality of the samples he was able to show them, soon won the business of international leathergoods brands Esprit and Donna Karan.
Now Simone makes 30 million handbags per year and has 30,000 workers.
