Five new companies join Leather Naturally initiative

26/07/2018
Leather Naturally, an initiative aimed at countering attacks on leather from some campaign groups and producers of synthetic materials, has announced five new organisations have joined its cause.

The new additions include three tanning groups: Bader Leather (China), Kuo Yuen (China) and AL Topper (Australia).

The other new partners are the division of Wolverine responsible for the company’s leather sourcing; and the University of Northampton, which includes the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT).

“The leather industry must embrace all initiatives promoting ethicality through the production of a true sustainable product,” said Sylvain Bussiere Wolverine’s vice president and general manager.

Micaela Topper of Al Topper added that the company believes the industry is at a “critical juncture” and that those within it have a responsibility to promote leather as an “ethical and sustainable natural resource.”
