The University of Northmpton has awarded an honorary fellowship to David Santa-Olalla in recognition of his service to the leather industry in general and to the university’s Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT) in particular.

After a military career that lasted for almost 40 years, Mr Santa-Olalla became the clerk of the City of London’s Worshipful Company of Leathersellers in 2009 and has been a vocal supporter of a number of industry initiatives and a regular attender at leather exhibitions and conferences around the world. Between 2009 and 2012 he served as a governor of the University of Northampton.

He received the award of an honorary fellowship at the university’s graduation ceremony on July 25.

He is pictured here with Rachel Garwood, director of the ICLT.
