CLE to explore markets in Australia

19/07/2018
The Indian Council For Leather Export (CLE) is to organise a trip to Australia in November to help suppliers of leather and leather products from India expand their business there.

It will set up a buyer-seller meeting at the Footwear & Leather Show Australia, which will take place in Melbourne from November 20-22. Funding will be available from an Indian government programme called Market Access Initiatives.

According to the CLE, Australia is a good market for the Indian leather sector to target because its overall leather-sector imports increased from just over $2 billion in 2012 to more than $2.2 billion in 2016. India’s share of that total is 3.7%, reaching $82.7 million in 2016, but the CLE this is growing by around 10% per year.
