Leather initiative to launch at Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef conference
Multi-stakeholder initiative the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB) will host the launch of a new programme for the leather supply chain at its 2018 conference.

Founded in 2014, GRSB devotes itself to campaigning for, and helping to define, sustainability in the beef industry. Its five areas of focus are natural resources, people and the community, animal health and welfare, food, and efficiency and innovation and it holds all five to be of equal importance.

However, at its third Global Conference on Sustainable Beef, which will take place in Ireland in October, GRSB will also help formally launch a new initiative, the Responsible Leather Roundtable.

The final day of the conference, Friday, October 12, will feature leather prominently. In an early-morning session, leather and beef industry stakeholders will discuss sustainability together and seek to identify common ground and opportunities for collaboration. An inaugural all-day session to launch the Responsible Leather Roundtable, led by not-for-profit group Textile Exchange, will follow immediately afterwards.
