Organiser, Caltu, the footwear association of the province of Tungurahua, said there were 112 exhibitors in total at the event and that it was hoping for 6,000 visitors.
Caltu’s president Lilia Villavicencio, said local manufacturers are committed to continue improving the quality of their products and said this insistence on quality is helping to draw buyers to the market. She said she hoped exhibitors would register sales and orders with a value of around $7 million before the end of the three-day show.
Ecuador currently produces 31 million pairs of shoes per year and 25 million of these are made in Tungurahua.
