Mexican President-elect pledges support for footwear industry

The president of the CICEG footwear industry association in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, Luis Gerardo González, was among a group of industry leaders who met with the President-elect of Mexico, Andrés Manual López Obrador, at the start of July.

Mr López Obrador secured 53% of the vote in the Mexican general election on July 1. He will take office on December 1.

During a press conference following the meeting, the President-elect described the textile and footwear sectors as “priorities” for his government.
