Luxury group Richemont will nearly treble production capacity at the leathergoods factory it operates in Florence as it seeks to centralise the manufacturing of accessories and travel goods of a number of its luxury brands, according to Italian media reports.

The facility, located in Scandicci, has so far been dedicated to manufacturing products for the Montblanc brand, but will be expanded to absorb production for a number of other brands, most notably Dunhill and Serapian. It will also house the research and development of materials for the Chloé brand.

According to local media, in the next five years the plant’s turnover will increase from €120 million per year to €350 million per year. The number of employees will increase from 110 to 200. The expansion is expected to cost between €15 million and €25 million.
