Drop in demand for double-face puts Turkish tanners in trouble

Reports from Turkey suggest a number of double-face tanners in the country’s Corlu-Tekirdag cluster have halted production or are working under capacity owing to the fall in demand for the material in the course of the last three years.

There are suggestions that some are ready to sell up altogether, machinery and all, and get out of the business, but have so far been unable to find buyers. Another possibility they are reported to be considering is to enter into joint-venture agreements with investors outside Turkey.
