The total value of these exports was $6.3 million. This represents an improvement of 6.1% compared to the value of the country’s footwear exports in 2016. The average price per pair was $19.8, slightly higher compared to the previous year.
Despite this promising export performance, Fedeccal highlighted that only 16 companies exported shoes from Chile in 2017. This compares to 48 in 2016 and 63 in 2016, meaning there has been a drop of nearly 75% in the number of companies exporting shoes in just two years.
Chile’s footwear exports in 2017 went to 26 countries. The leading market was Peru, which took in 26.3% of the total in terms of volume. The other leading markets were Australia, Spain, Panama and Uruguay.
