Turkish leather industry aims to double export revenues in three years

Leather industry bodies in Turkey have set themselves the goal of doubling the industry’s export revenues in the next three years. Current annual export revenues for the industry are around $1.6 billion.

The Turkish Leather Federation, finished product groups and tanners’ associations have all given their support to the idea.

An important part of the plan is the opening of a new showroom for Turkish leather and finished leather products in New York, which Turkish export promotions bodies and the ministry of economics have supported financially. The aim will be to attract US designers and buyers to the showroom and convince them to specify Turkish leather in their collections.
