Mr Johnson is joined on the senior management team by Bryn Kahrl, a former executive at automotive seating manufacturer Lear Corporation (which now owns Eagle Ottawa), as GST’s vice-president of global operations. Scott Landis is also joining as chief human resources officer; he, too, worked for Eagle Ottawa for many years.
Former chief executive, Dennis Hiller, will stay on GST AutoLeather as a board advisor to assist in the transition. GST is now majority owned by funds managed by Black Diamond Capital Management.
“We are committed to being the most competitive, innovative, and sought-after supplier to major OEMs worldwide,” said Mr Johnson on taking up the role. “GST has exited bankruptcy with a strong balance sheet and ample liquidity, talented leaders globally, and a reputation as a high-quality leather designer and manufacturer. It is among a small group of leather suppliers that can be considered truly global in nature.”
