30/04/2018
Packer and tanning group JBS has published the latest edition of its annual sustainability report.

Sustainability initiatives are detailed under five themes: health and safety, animal welfare, water, product integrity and climate change. There are strategies and initiatives covering all areas of the business from raw material sourcing to finished product packaging.

Highlights in the report include details of 2017 developments, including the creation of its global compliance team, the launch of a compliance programme called ‘Always Do It Right’ and a new JBS ‘Ethics Line’ to allow employees to flag up possible instances of impropriety. The company also set up a food safety and quality assurance area, which it hopes will help it expand its access to global export markets.

In the report, group president, José Batista Sobrinho, said: “We arrive at 2018, a symbolic year for the company, with pride in our achievements and plenty of energy as we look ahead. We celebrate our 65th anniversary with even greater belief in our future, supported by a capable team as we prepare to write another chapter in our history.”
