ICHSLTA wants no interruption to “free flow” of hides

The International Council of Hides, Skins, and Leather Traders Association (ICHSLTA) held its 89th Annual General Meeting in Hong Kong on March 13.

Members reviewed a number of issues related to the trade of hides and skins globally, especially ongoing customs and export-import issues. “The council continues to monitor these issues closely to ensure the free flow of hides and skins traded around the world is not interrupted,” ICHSLTA said.

Current president, Stephen Sothmann of the US Hide, Skin and Leather Association, and vice-presidents Victor Topper of the Australian Hide, Skin and Leather Exporters Association and Su Chaoying of the China Leather Industry Association, were all re-elected for another two-year term. Lénaïg Manéat of the Syndicat General des Cuirs Et Peaux in France continues as the organisation’s secretariat.

Members approved a proposal for ICHSLTA to become an official member of the Leather Naturally campaign.

Country reports from ICHSLTA members detailing the state of the industry in each member country are now available on the organisation’s website, www.ichslta.com.
