Igualada tanning group makes acquisition

Igualada-based Fontanellas y Martí completed a deal to acquire Spanish leather company Vidal Bosch at the start of 2018, according to Spanish media reports.

Explaining the deal, Fontanellas y Martí said: “This deal is a strategic decision as it brings together two high quality product portfolios. Grupo Fontanellas’ experience will help create a company with excellent prospects for growth.”

Vidal Bosch was founded in 1945 and specialises in producing full grain leather for the luxury sector.

Fontanellas y Martí, which was founded in 1954, survived a period in administration between January 2014 and April 2015. Among its brands are Taniflex, which produces vegetable-tanned leathers for the luxury sector.
