Two highly commended tanneries come close in 2018 awards

Before Interhides was announced as the global winner for 2018, it was named as one of a Final Three. This comprised the trio of finalists with the best overall scores from the judging panel. And while the Thai tanning group took the global prize on the night, there were highly commended awards for the two companies that it edged out.
The two highly commended awards went to Mississippi TanTec from the US and to Xingye, from Fujian province in China.
There were finalist trophies for all participants on the night, including Andrew Muirhead & Son, Sepiciler and Tongtianxing Group.
At the end of the gala final, organiser, World Leather, gave thanks to the four judges who gave freely of their time to assess each of the finalists. The 2018 judges were IULTCS president, Thomas Yu, ITC general secretary, Paul Pearson, vice-chancellor of the University of Northampton, Nick Petford, and the senior manager for supply chain sustainability at VF Corporation, Joyce Tsoi.
It also expressed thanks to the competition’s sponsor, leather chemicals manufacturer Buckman.
The seventh programme of Tannery of the Year will begin at the end of 2018.
