Biofabricated materials developer Modern Meadow has announced a long-term partnership with Germany-based industrial group Evonik. Modern Meadow said the aim of the partnership is to scale up production of the collagen it uses to manufacture Zoa, a material it believes brands will be able to use to make finished consumer products.

“This announcement marks a historic moment for us, as we look to scale fermentation on an order of magnitude that will enable us to move into commercial production” said Dave Williamson, Modern Meadow’s chief technology officer.
