Brazilian state governor calls for an end to pessimism

The governor of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sol, José Ivo Sartori, has spoken at leather exhibition Fimec of the need to “put pessimism to one side” for the sake of the economy.

Rio Grande do Sol is host to the exhibition (Novo Hamburgo, March 6-8) as well as to large numbers of tanneries and footwear manufacturers. Speaking on the opening day of Fimec, Mr Sartori said times are still complicated for the state’s economy, but he insisted there is light at the end of the tunnel.

He added: “We want to move the state forward and we are achieving that, but what’s needed is for us all to move forward in terms of attitude, to leave to one side all the pessimism, our ideological differences and our political bitterness. We have to start believing again and work together for the future of Rio Grande do Sul.”
