Early export growth for Uruguay, but leather loses out

06/03/2018
Overall, Uruguay’s export performance has been good at the start of 2018, with $1.4 billion in export revenues in the first two months of the year, an increase of 17% compared to the same period in 2017.

Exports of beef have grown substantially, bringing in $156 million in January (an increase of 32% compared to January 2017) followed by $150 million in February (an increase of 20% compared to the same month last year).

However, exports of leather and finished products containing the material have fared less well. February figures include leather-sector exports with a value of $21 million, down by 1% year on year.
