French town to be home of new leather training centre

01/03/2018
Work is underway to build a new training centre for the leather industry in the town of Montbéliard, located in France’s Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region.

The facility will be located in the town’s former job centre and will be known as ‘Les ateliers de la Lizaine’. It aims to become a hub for education in leather skills.

The building contains a leathergoods workshop that contains all the necessary equipment to create leather handbags. There is also a large workshop dedicated to leather cutting.

Montbéliard is already home to l’école Boudard, a training institute offering course on leather and leathergoods manufacturing, and to workshops owned by luxury leathergoods brand Hermès.
