New ‘green label’ initiative to launch at Tanning Tech

Tanning machinery manufacturers’ association Assomac will present the idea, called ‘Targa Verde’, at the Tanning Tech exhibition in Milan on February 20. Assomac president, Gabriella Marchioni Bocca, will host the event.
This idea first emerged in 2017, when Ms Marchioni Bocca introduced it at the Assomac annual general meeting. She described it as a voluntary scheme that will offer assurance to end customers about the products they are buying. Efficiency, low environmental impact and operational safety are among the criteria covered.
She said: “The aim is to go beyond mere declarations and create a labelling system, certified by an accreditation body. This means that a company joining the initiative can have the performance of its machinery evaluated. The system calculates internationally recognised reference parameters such as carbon footprint, measured via life cycle assessment (LCA)."
