China figures help Audi make a strong start to a “crucial” year

09/02/2018
Automotive brand Audi had a strong start to 2018 with a 20% pick-up in sales in the month of January.

The January figure that stood out the most was the one for China, where more than 60,000 customers bought a new Audi in the course of the month. Compared to January 2017, this represents an increase of 73%, but this is, in large part, because Audi was in dispute with its local partners at the start of last year.

Sales also picked up in North America, by almost 10%. However, sales in Europe were down by 2.2%.

Audi’s sales and marketing director, Bram Schot, commented that January’s results constituted “a good start to a crucial year”. This year will be “crucial” because Audi will bring out important new models such as a new A7 and a new generation of A6. It will also bring to market two new, full-size SUV models, the Q8 and the all electric Audi e-tron.
